A safe, ethical and equitable learning environment is important to the success of the integration of information and communication technology in the classroom. Incorporating technology is increasingly prevalent within our schools and we must ensure that teachers’, students’, and parents’ experiences is a positive one.  Instituting safe boundaries and parameters within the school setting can alleviate some of the problems one may encounter.  Here are some ideas:

1.  School and Board Acceptable Use Policies
In our board, every school is asked to implement its own acceptable use policy.  Teachers must be made aware of what this policy is (or participate in its creation) and then communicate it to students.  If students are continually reminded about what the policies are and what the consequences of not adhering to them may be, students and teachers can promote the safe and ethical use of technology.  Parents can become…
