Incorporating Technology into Education

I started my teaching career as a PDHPE (Personal Development, Health and Physical Education) teacher in High School. After a few years as a casual teacher and mother I needed a change. Luckily for me the opportunity came up to work as a Special Needs teacher. It was amazing working with these students for my first year in this new field. Then a further opportunity fell before me to gain permanency as a Special Educator. I plodded along for five years in this role – even having the chance to be the Head of department. Through the NSWDEC I have a scholarship to retrain through the University of Wollongong and complete a Masters of Education – Special Education. Whilst as relieving Head of Support I was also provided the role of Technology Coordinator at my school. This was a massive learning curve – once again the thrill of learning new skills was enthralling.

I now have the privilege of combining both my passions – working with students with special needs and integrating technology. Thus I have created this blog, to pass onto my colleagues, links to resources to support them on their technology integration into education.

TEACH – providing links for fellow educators to tools they can implement in their classrooms to engage students in the latest technology.

CONNECT – providing links for fellow educators to tools they can implement to create and enhance their professional networks globally.

CURATE – providing links for fellow educators to tools they can implement to source and have access to the latest technology.
